The Adventuring Party
Discussing table-top and related gaming and the Irish gaming scene so you don't have to.

+3 Downtime:  It's episode 100!  We've put out an episode a week, every week, 100 times, and that's something.  In lieu of something elaborate and special, we thought this would be the ideal opportunity to let our hair down and do the mildly silly episode we'd been wanting to do for a while.  So sit back, relax, pick up your stress balls and grind your teeth as Shane, Cillian, Stu, Liam and humbug ponder accents in role-playing games.

Editing for this episode was delayed by holiday travel and gaming, and further gaming is preventing the writing of full show notes.  We don't mention anything we haven't linked to repeatedly in the past, anyway, and gaming always trumps podcasting, and anyway it's episode 100 so cut me some slack.

Character Creation:  Putting festivity ahead of common sense, an even more informal than usual seasonal episode sees Shane, humbug, Liam and Stu putting stats on one jolly old elf in a number of different role-playing game systems, to no appreciable end.  Thanks for listening, happy holidays and we'll be back in the new year!  Or the end of this year if there's another Wednesday yet to come.

Apologies for the lack of the actual character sheets for your perusal, we might have them some time if fingers are gotten out ever.

+2 Downtime:  Whether it be epic-level spells or delta-grade cyberware, and climbing the experience point ladder or starting characters with ridiculous creation points, most role-playing game systems have something that can class as high-level play.  Shane, humbug, Liam and Stu consider the various aspects of all this, with a little thought also given to low-level play, and reach very few useful conclusions.  Features:

+1 Downtime:  Maybe it's the only way to sell game expansions, because there sure seems to be a lot of it around - prestige classes in RPGs, army lists in wargames, cards in collectible card games.  Shane, humbug, Liam, Dizzy and Stu get on the mics to discuss what power creep is, where it is, why it is, and whether we like it or not.  Features:

Downtime:  A topic that we've been considering for some time (although you might not realise it to listen to the uninformed half-assery), Shane, humbug, Liam, Dizzy and Stu talk about official adventure modules they've known and loved and hated and just been downright confused by, from Swiss Army knife espionage to D&D's smuttiest.  Apologies for the late release of this episode, the editing process was delayed by playing Ambush Alley and creating a sweet snowman.  Features:

+1 Con:  Rushing straight from the halls of Maynooth college to The Adventuring Party's headquarters, a snuffly group of Shane, Liam, humbug, Cillian and Dizzy recap a multitude of events from Dominicon 2010, ranging from Liam's poor spelling to Shane's brief emergence from the closet.  Features:

Con:  Fresh (ish) from the constant barrage of madness that is Gaelcon, Shane, humbug and Liam manage to drum up enough residual excitement from their withered husks to report at what turns out to be great length on their antics at Ireland's national gaming convention.  After recording it turned out to be really quite long indeed so it's being inelegantly broken into two parts.  Check back next week for the second half!  Features:
